IDEC GRAND SUD is supporting IDEC SPORT in the design and construction of its future building.This 3,500 m² project will be located at the gates of the Castellet racetrack in Signes (83) and will include 3 different buildings.As Principal Works Supervisor, Pierre-Etienne tells us about the progress of the work on this project developed by FAUBOURG PROMOTION and financed by GROUPE IDEC INVEST.
Pierre-Etienne joined IDEC GRAND SUD in 2011. For the past 11 years, Pierre-Etienne has worked on various services and logistics programs and has been involved in the construction of a hotel in St-Tropez and the IDEC GRAND SUD premises. Several GROUPE IDEC subsidiaries have worked on the development of this project dedicated to motor sports. “The investor and our project manager is GROUPE IDEC INVEST, which oversees the operation administratively and financially and ensures that it is completed successfully.FAUBOURG PROMOTION owns the area and manages the planning and development for the various projects that will be built there” explains Pierre-Etienne.
A complex of 3 buildings
This real estate complex spans a total of 3,500 m² and includes 3 different buildings. The first building is a workshop spread over one and a half levels. “The lower ground floor will be used to store mechanical parts and the upper level will house the main hall where the mechanical aspects of the race cars will be worked on” explains Pierre-Etienne. The second building is dedicated to the administrative and engineering aspects and includes the staff premises. The ground floor is dedicated to the offices of the IDEC SPORT team and includes changing rooms, a fitness room and a simulator room. The first floor will include the CEO’s office, a lounge and relaxation area. The second floor is a furnished terrace of about 200 m². “The last building, called the “bâtiment de collection” or “collection building”, has a total of 80 parking spaces to store and preserve the sports cars and collectors’ cars that owners entrust to the IDEC SPORT team.They will be able to pick them up and go to the Castellet racetrack via the direct access that the building offers to the track” explains Pierre-Etienne. The roofs of the workshop and the collection building will be equipped with solar panels. All the energy produced by the solar panels will be sold to the French electricity board, EDF.
Architecture that reflects GROUPE IDEC’s identity
“It is a project in keeping with the spirit of the La Factory building, the IDEC AGRO & Factory headquarters in Rennes.The facades will be entirely clad with red facing bricks and the structure is made of reinforced concrete” explains Pierre-Etienne. The interiors of the workshop and collection building will be given an industrial look with exposed steel framework and truss beams. The walls of the lounge will be finished in red brick and the interior features such as the lighting fixtures will be reminiscent of the industrial spirit.
Already 6 months of work
The general earthworks began in October 2021. The structural work on the office building began at the end of November and is now complete. “We still have the exterior walls of the upper section of the workshop and the floor and walls of the collection section to complete” explains Pierre-Etienne. The framework inside the workshop will be erected in April and the framework for the collection building will be erected in May. “Completion of the building envelope for the offices is scheduled for the beginning of May, whereas the building envelope for the workshop is scheduled for the end of May and finally, the building envelope for the collection part will be completed in June”. Final delivery of this project is slated for December 2022.
